Professional dancer/singer/artist from Guinea Conakry, living in Stockholm. Fanta is a multitalented star with a fantastic energy and charisma – she will make you dance! Fanta grew up in a griot family and started dancing at the age of 4. She has been part of several dance groups both home in Guinea and abroad, and she has performed with some of the biggest stars in West Africa: Salif Keita, Mamady Keita, Mory Kante, Baba Mali, and Sekou Keita, amongst others. Since 2006, she has been working as a dance teacher and performer in Sweden, and we are honored to have her visit our summer camp where she will guide both beginners and advanced dancers through the traditional dances with her beautiful, feminine style.
Professional dancer and choreographer from Guinea Conakry, educated both at the famous dancing scene of Conakry and in 2014 from the National Guinean Academy of Arts "Institut Superieur des Arts de Guinée", specializing in traditional Guinean dances and rhythms. He is director and choreographer of "Ballet Fonike", one of the major traditional dance groups in Guinea, as well as dance director for the modern dance and theatre group Tawuly Creation. In 2012 he founded his own dance company in Dubreka, Guinea, called Compagnie Alkhaly Camara, now active in Copenhagen. Alky has many years of experience in teaching adults, professional dancers, beginners as well as school children and youth, through regular classes at dance schools and special events and workshops. He has performed with various dance groups in both Africa and Europe. Dance is Alky's great passion, and he lives to educate and share the unique Guinean dance culture! BAFODE "BAYANO" SOUMAH
Professional drummer from Guinea Conakry, living in Stockholm. Bayano grew up in the artist neighborhood Matam in Conakry and has played in the famous Boka junior group as a child. Later, he became a solo player in Ballets Sourakhata and Troupes Yole in Conakry. During his 12 years in Stockholm, he has worked for several dance schools and dance groups such as Chapeau de Guinea, Kalabante og Yigui de Urkraft. He has taught drumming around Europe and in USA, and organized several drumming travels to Guinea. Bayano is a true djembefola with an impressive talent and energy. He will guide you into the magical universe of West African rhythms – a chance not to be missed for djembe lovers on all levels.
The dance classes will include warming up, diagonal movements through the dance floor, and a choreography to a specific rhythm. All dance classes will be accompanied by live drums by:
